Rochester Community and Technical College and North Dakota State College of Science advanced through the Region 13 Softball Tournaments to earn the right to play in the 2024 NJCAA DIII Softball World Series in Chattanooga, TN, on May 22-25.
Rochester, 19-18 overall and the MCAC South Division co-champions, claimed the Region 13A/North Plains District 13A title by defeating Minnesota State Community and Technical College 12-4 on May 9 and following that up with an 8-5 win over Minnesota North College - Rainy River. After MNC-Rainy River advanced through the loser's bracket with a 14-11 win over St. Cloud Technical and Community College, a May 10th rematch in the championship game was set. Rochester earned the automatic qualifying bid to the World Series with a 9-3 victory over the Voyageurs.
North Dakota State College of Science moved through the Region 13B Tournament in championship fashion. After defeating Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range 17-0 in the opening round, the Wildcats faced Central Lakes College in a hard-fought 3-0 win. Central Lakes College, the MCAC North Division champions, picked up two tournament wins against Ridgewater College to come through the loser's bracket and face NDSCS once again. The result was not as close as the first matchup, as the Wildcats won 8-1 to advance to the North Plains District B series against the winner of the NJCAA Region 4 Tournament, College of DuPage. The Wildcats were too much for the Chaparrals, picking up two straight wins and advancing to the NJCAA Softball World Series.
Rochester was given the #8 seed in the World Series, and NDSCS was selected as the #1 seed. With that seeding, the Region 13 teams will meet face-to-face in the tournament's opening game on Wednesday, May 22.
Following the Region 13 Tournaments, an all-tournament team was announced. The following athletes were named to those two teams:
