The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its football athlete of the week awards for the week of September 1-7.
Ishmael Emmanuel Holloway, wide receiver for North Dakota State College of Science, earned an Offensive Player of the Week award. Holloway caught four passes for 110 yards, averaging 27.5 yards per reception. He scored two touchdowns, and his long reception was a 63-yard catch to help the Wildcats get a win. Armon Vinson, quarterback for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, earned the other Offensive Player of the Week honor. Vinson completed 15 of 22 passes for 305 yards and five touchdowns in the Bluejays' win. In addition to completing 68.2% of his passes, Vinson also rushed for a touchdown.
Minnesota West Community and Technical College's outside linebacker, Darron Millender, earned a Defensive Player-of-the-Week award for the second straight week. Millender had eight tackles with three of them for a loss of yardage. He also had two sacks to add to his season total of 3.0. Daemond Gibbons, cornerback for North Dakota State College of Science, was named a Defensive Player of the Week after picking up three solo tackles and six assists. Gibbons also had a pass break-up to go along with his nine total tackles.
Chase Karpowich, kicker for Rochester Community and Technical College, earned the Special Teams Player-of-the-Week award for the second time this season. Karpowich connected on his two field goal attempts and was a perfect seven for seven on extra points. He has not missed a point-scoring try yet this season. Karpowich also had nine kickoffs totaling 600 yards, with two touchbacks.
