The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its volleyball athlete of the week awards for the week of September 8-14.
Lexy Nehring, outside hitter for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, earned the MCAC South Division Offensive Athlete of the Week award. Nehring had 39 kills in 18 sets and hit .297 on the week, averaging 2.17 kills per set. She also had three assists, five service aces, 75 digs, and three blocks, with four of the Cyclones' five matches this week played against NJCAA Division II opponents. Minnesota West Community and Technical College outside hitter, Aleah Wagner, earned the MCAC South Division Defensive Athlete of the Week award. Wagner had 54 digs in 11 sets, averaging 4.91 digs per set. She also had six service aces, and tallied two blocks and 21 kills to help her Lady Jays stay at #3 in the NJCAA national rankings.
Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range setter, Talise Goodsky, earned the MCAC North Division Offensive Athlete of the Week honor. In just eight sets, Goodsky had 80 assists, averaging 10.0 assists per set. She also had 10 kills, and added 17 digs and two blocks. Goodsky collected her 1,000th career assist in the team's win over MNC-Itasca. Maddie Lochner, libero for Central Lakes College, was named the MCAC North Division Defensive Athlete of the Week. Lochner picked up 139 digs in her 17 sets, averaging 8.18 digs per set. She also had six service aces and three assists during the week.
