The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its football athlete of the week awards for the week of September 15-21.
Michael Douglas Jr., running back for North Dakota State College of Science, earned an Offensive Player of the Week award. Douglas Jr. carried the ball 16 times for 106 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 6.6 yards per carry in the win over Minnesota State Community and Technical College. Armon Vinson, quarterback for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, earned the other Offensive Player of the Week honor. Vinson completed 21 of 29 passes for 426 yards and seven touchdowns. He completed 72% of his passes and averaged 20.2 yards per completion in the Bluejays' win over Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range.
Minnesota West Community and Technical College's outside linebacker, Darron Millender, earned a Defensive Player-of-the-Week award. Millender had 11 tackles, including three sacks and three tackles for a loss of yardage. He led a defensive effort that limited MNC-Mesabi Range to 14 points in a 46-14 win. Harold Mesumbe, linebacker for Rochester Community and Technical College, was named a Defensive Player of the Week. Mesumbe had 13 tackles, two of which were for a loss of yardage. He also had a pass breakup in the Yellowjackets' 20-6 win over Central Lakes College.
There were no nominations for this week's Special Teams Player-of-the-Week award.
