The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its football athlete of the week awards for the week of September 29 - October 5.
Kyron Burroughs, running back for Rochester Community and Technical College, earned an Offensive Player of the Week award. Burroughs had 22 carries, rushing for 159 yards and a touchdown of 75 yards. He averaged 7.22 yards per carry in the Yellowjackets' win over #3 Minnesota West Community and Technical College. Trevon Rodriguez, wide receiver for North Dakota State College of Science, earned the other Offensive Player of the Week honor. Rodriguez had three receptions for 139 yards and two touchdowns, with a long of 52 yards. He averaged 46.3 yards per catch in the Wildcats' win over MNC-Vermilion.
Rochester Community and Technical College's defensive back, Coaleon Johnson, earned a Defensive Player-of-the-Week award. Johnson racked up 10 tackles in the Yellowjackets' win over Minnesota West on Saturday. He also had an interception that resulted in a 40-yard return, and he recovered a fumble and ran it back for 12 yards. There were no nominations for the other Defensive Player of the Week award.
Ryndon Olsen, kicker for North Dakota State College of Science, earned the Special Teams Player-of-the-Week award. Olsen was eight for eight on extra points and one for two on field goal attempts, kicking a long of 27. He also had nine kickoffs for 560 yards with five touchbacks and an average of 62.2 yards per kickoff.
