The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its football athlete of the week awards for the week of October 6-12.
Tellise 'TJ' Clark Jr, running back for North Dakota State College of Science, earned an Offensive Player of the Week award. Clark had 10 carries, rushing for 153 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 15.3 yards per carry and had a 51-yard touchdown run in the Wildcats' win over Central Lakes College. Devin Gonzalez, quarterback for Rochester Community and Technical College, earned the other Offensive Player of the Week honor. Gonzalez completed 13 of 16 passes for 243 yards and four touchdowns in the Yellowjackets' win against Minnesota State Community and Technical College. He completed 81% of his passes and averaged 18.7 yards per completion.
Minnesota West Community and Technical College's defensive back, Brice Nutall, earned a Defensive Player-of-the-Week award. Nutall had four tackles and two pass break-ups in the Bluejays' win over Minnesota North College-Vermilion. Nutall also recovered a fumble and returned it 73 yards for a touchdown. Coaleon Johnson, defensive back for Rochester Community and Technical College, earned his second straight Defensive Player of the Week honor. Johnson was involved in nine tackles, six of them solo and three assisted. He also broke up a pass and intercepted another, returning it 95 yards for a touchdown in the Yellowjackets' win.
Chase Karpowich, kicker for Rochester Community and Technical College, earned the Special Teams Player-of-the-Week award. Karpowich was nine for nine on extra points and had ten kickoffs for 495 yards with three touchbacks. He also had one onside kick that he recovered himself.
