The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its volleyball athlete of the week awards for the week of October 6-12.
Kori Bristle, middle blocker for Ridgewater College, earned the MCAC South Division Offensive Athlete of the Week honor. Bristle tallied 26 kills in her 12 sets, hitting .276 and averaging 2.16 kills per set this week. She also had eight service aces, 78 digs, and 8 total blocks, helping the Warriors remain in a great position to qualify for the Region 13 Tournament. Jayda Bednarek, libero for Rochester Community and Technical College, earned the MCAC South Division Defensive Athlete of the Week award. Bednarek continued putting up incredible defensive stats, recording 52 digs in six sets. She averaged 8.66 digs per set and also had two service aces and eight assists in the Yellowjackets' two wins.
Central Lakes College outside hitter, Megan Matarelli, earned the MCAC North Division Offensive Athlete of the Week honor. In eight sets, Matarelli killed 35 balls and hit .247 on the week. She averaged 4.37 kills per set and recorded two service aces, 24 digs, and five blocks, helping the Raiders to two more wins during the week. Ashley Boland, libero for Minnesota North College-Itasca, was named the MCAC North Division Defensive Athlete of the Week. Boland had 32 digs in her six sets, averaging 5.33 digs per set. She also had four service aces and an assist, helping the Vikings earn another conference win.
