MCAC Soccer Athletes of the Week: Week of October 13-19

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly soccer awards for the week of October 13-19. 

There were no nominations for the MCAC Women's Soccer weekly awards.

Minnesota West Community and Technical College goalkeeper, Jose Sandoval, earned the MCAC Men's Soccer Goalkeeper-of-the-Week honor for the second straight week. Sandoval recorded five saves in six shots taken, giving up only one goal in a win over Anoka-Ramsey Community College to secure the MCAC championship. Robin Braun, defender for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, earned the Defensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award. Braun led the defensive back line that held Anoka-Ramsey to only one goal, which occurred in the final minute of the 3-1 win for the BlueJays. Carlos Castillo, forward for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, earned the Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award in back-to-back weeks. Castillo scored two goals this week in four shots taken, both on goal. The two goals came in a win over Anoka-Ramsey that kept the BlueJays in first-place in the conference.
