The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its volleyball athlete of the week awards for the week of October 20-26.
Sadie Krahling, outside hitter for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, earned the MCAC South Division Offensive Athlete of the Week award. In her lone match of the week, Krahling hit an astounding .526 hitting percentage, with 13 kills and only three errors on 19 swings. She also had three service aces and no errors, and added two blocks to secure the MCAC South Division title for the Lady Jays. Brooklyn Fischer, outside hitter for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, earned the MCAC South Division Defensive Athlete of the Week award. Fischer dug 102 balls in 14 sets, averaging 7.28 digs per set. She also had five total blocks and 12 service aces, with only two errors. Fischer killed 45 balls, breaking the Cyclone Volleyball career kills record.
Northland Community and Technical College setter, Kaydence Augustine, earned the MCAC North Division Offensive Athlete of the Week honor. Augustine had 82 assists over eight sets, averaging 10.25 assists per set. She also added five kills, a service ace, and 24 digs to her stat line. Leading the Pioneer's offensive effort, Augustine picked up wins over MNC-Itasca and MNC-Rainy River to secure the number two seed from the MCAC North Division in the Region 13 Tournament. Makayla Woody, libero for Minnesota North College-Vermilion, was named the MCAC North Division Defensive Athlete of the Week. Woody collected 39 digs in her six sets, averaging 6.5 digs per set. She also had two service aces during the week.
