The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its winter sports athletes of the week awards for the week of January 5-11.
Memphys Tendrup, guard for Minnesota North College-Mesabi Range, earned the MCAC North Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. In 80 minutes on the court, Tendrup dropped 42 points, going 16 for 31 from the field (51.6%) and 6 for 14 from the three-point line (42.9%). She also had 16 rebounds, six assists, five steals, and four blocks, leading her Norse team to an MCAC North Division win over Central Lakes College.
Minnesota North College-Rainy River forward Rodney Mozard earned the MCAC North Division Men's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Mozard averaged a double-double during the week, helping the Voyageurs pick up two MCAC North Division wins. He scored 44 points and had 25 rebounds, five assists, three steals, and three blocks in his 71 minutes of action. Mozard shot 67% from the field and 83% from the free-throw line.
Maddie Kamm, point guard for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, earned the MCAC South Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Kamm scored 32 points, had eight rebounds, assisted on 12 baskets, and grabbed eight steals, helping the Lady Jays to two wins this week, including a three-point win over #1-ranked Anoka Ramsey. She shot 85% from the field and 100% from three-point range.
Ridgewater College point guard Tyrese Mayo, earned the MCAC South Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week honor for the second straight week. Mayo shot 57% from the field, going 13 for 23, and 67% from the three-point arc (6-9) to score 41 points in only 38 minutes of action. He added two rebounds, two assists, and two steals to his stat line, helping his Warriors' team secure a 13-point MCAC South Division win over Anoka Ramsey Community College.
Jake Aho, the 133-pound wrestler at Rochester Community and Technical College, earned the MCAC Wrestler of the Week award. A sophomore from Forest Lake, Minnesota, Aho went 5-0 at the NJCAA National Duals, helping lead the Yellowjackets to a top-4 finish.
