The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its winter sports athletes of the week awards for the week of January 12-18.
Minnesota North College-Mesabi Range forward Jasia White earned the MCAC North Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. In her one game and 40 minutes of action, White scored 22 points, shooting 42.9% from the field and 62.5% from behind the three-point arc. She had 12 rebounds, five assists, a steal, and two blocks, helping her Norse team to a 73-62 North Division win over rival MNC-Vermilion.
RJ Walker, guard for Minnesota North College - Hibbing, earned the MCAC North Division Men's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Helping to secure two key North Division wins for his team, Walker scored 66 points, averaging 33 points per game. He shot 52.4% (22-42) from the field and 91.3% (21-23) from the charity stripe. He also collected 11 rebounds, 14 assists, and six steals in wins over MNC-Itasca and MNC-Mesabi Range.
Minnesota West Community and Technical College guard Payton Reimers earned the MCAC South Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Reimers went 9 for 18 from the field and 8 for 8 from the free-throw line, and she scored 27 points in the Lady Jays' two wins this week. Reimers also grabbed 13 rebounds, had seven assists, stole two balls, and blocked two shots to pick up wins over Riverland and St. Cloud Technical and Community College.
R'Moni Warner, guard for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, earned this week's MCAC South Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week award. Seeing 55 minutes of court time, Warner scored 39 points, pulled down 10 rebounds, assisted on 11 baskets, and stole seven balls to help the Cyclones pick up wins over #15 Ridgewater College and Minnesota West Community and Technical College. Warner shot 50% from the field and from the three-point line.
There were no nominations this week for the MCAC Wrestler of the Week award.
