The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its softball weekly awards for the week of April 20-26.
Central Lakes College right-handed pitcher Morgan Kloss earned this week's MCAC North Division Softball Pitcher of the Week award. Kloss went 2-0 this week in her three appearances in the pitching circle, throwing 16 total innings. She gave up only one earned run and one unearned run, while striking out 10 batters and walking none. Her opponents could only muster 10 hits through the three games. Kloss's performance helped lead the Raiders into the Region 13 double-elimination championship bracket.
Adriana Pena, shortstop for Minnesota North College Vermilion, was named this week's MCAC North Division Softball Position Player of the Week award-winner. Pena went 15 for 31 at the plate, hitting .484 on the week. She hit eight doubles and two home runs. Pena drove in five runs and scored 14, while walking once. She also stole four bases and helped the Ironhawks earn three wins during the final week of their season. Pena helped turn a double play and had a .975 fielding percentage.
St. Cloud Technical and Community College right-handed pitcher Hailey Stallings earned this week's MCAC South Division Pitcher of the Week honor. Pitching 15 innings over three starting appearances, Stallings gave up only two earned runs to help lead her Cyclones into the Region 13 double-elimination championship bracket. Stallings struck out eight batters and walked five, giving up four unearned runs and 15 hits. Behind Stallings' dominant play, the Cyclones won the MCAC South Division title and advanced as the #1 seed in the Region 13 Tournament.
Keeliana Doran, second baseman for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, earned this week's MCAC South Division Softball Position Player of the Week award. In 14 at-bats, Doran picked up 10 hits, hitting .701 for the week. She hit five doubles and a triple, and stole six bases. Doran drove in seven runs and scored eight, while walking four times. She currently ranks second in the MCAC South in doubles with 13 on the season, and ranks fourth in triples with four.
